On Wednesday evening, the Jordan Social Studies Department hosted its annual National Geographic Bee, a geography competition designed to inspire and reward students' curiosity about the world. All Jordan students participated in the Bee through their social studies classes. We had over 50 students qualify to compete at Wednesday's evening event. They are all truly exceptional geography whiz kids!
The preliminary round narrowed the competition to the following finalists:
After what proved to be a very exciting and fun filled
final round, we were left with two finalists for our Championship
Round. The runner up was Lucas Guan and the 2018 Jordan GeoBee Champion is Eugene Wei. Congratulations, Eugene! Eugene
will go on to take the State Qualifying Test with the possibility of competing in the State Bee on April 6th. Again, congratulations Eugene and congratulations to all the students who participated.
Every year we invite students to submit an original artwork for consideration for next year's Binder Reminder cover. The rules are as follows: Must be an original 2D artwork that you created by yourself – a drawing, painting, collage, etc. No copyright protected material or imagery. Must be submitted on 8.5" x 11" standard sized paper – we have good quality heavy drawing paper and will be happy to supply it to you if you want some. You do not need to include school name or dates – we will do that in our graphics program when we submit the artwork to the printer. "Jaguars" are usually a good theme to work with! Open to all Jordan students. The deadline for submission is Feb 15.
FUSE starts on January 16th. Also, there will be a coding studio and new designing available. So make sure to be there!
