Hey Greene students! The next school dance is coming up! The 'Winter Wonderland' dance is this Friday, December 7th from 7 to 9 PM in the MPR. The dance is semi-formal, so dress to impress! Dance tickets are $10. All Grade levels are welcome. 6th grade tickets will be sold in Hugh Center Court, 7th and 8th grade tickets will be sold in front of the dance studio all week. Please check the 'no dance list' located in front of the library and in the counseling office, to make sure you're eligible to buy a ticket! All students attending the dance must purchase a ticket by the end of lunch time on Friday. THERE WILL BE NO tickets will be sold at the door. Scholarships are available in the office from the counselors. If students have any questions ask Mrs. Roach or any leadership student.
The third annual Greene Battle of the Books is here! Team registration begins today December 3rd, and book checkout begins Monday, December 17th. The battle itself will take place on Wednesday, January 30th, during 3rd and 4th periods. To sign up a team you need four team members. Each team will read the eight books chosen by the library club this year, and then answer trivia questions about them on the day of the battle. There will be lots of awesome prizes, and everyone who participates gets a prize. The battle is limited to only 40 teams, so pick up a team registration form for each of your team members from the library as soon as possible! The books this year will be:

Attention top spellers and anyone interested in the Greene Spelling Bee: Come to room H4 Tuesday at lunch for a practice round in preparation for Greene's Annual Spelling Bee next week! Don't miss the chance to take part in this fun competition with the opportunity to represent our school in the National Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington DC. If students would like to enter the official competition, they must come to the practice round. Bring your lunch and find out what the spelling bee is all about!

6th Grade Basketball signups are coming up! Sign ups can be done online through the City of Palo Alto's Enjoy catalog and begin at 8:30 am December 4, tomorrow! Parents need to be online ready to go by 8:30 or students will most likely be waitlisted. If students have any questions about the 6th grade basketball season, check with Coach Pat in the gym after school, or go to the Athletics section of the Greene website. The 6th grade basketball season always fills up fast, so don't wait! 6th graders, remind your parents to be ready to sign up before 8:30 am!
